So what exactly is Pinterest?
There's been a lot of press around Pinterest but if you don't know what it is already there's a handy slide show which will explain all. It's 57 slides but well worth a read.

The reason Pinterest has worked so well is the ease at which you can pin interesting things in groups and share amongst others. I almost see it as a cross between a social network, read it later & flickr. Brands are jumping on it as it's turned into a medium to inspire as well as becoming an ultimate wishlist when it comes to retail & travel. With Pinterest referral traffic exploding it's becoming even more important that brands get on board. From an investor POV, the integration of skimlinks means that if referrals continue to grow it'll turn into a nice little earner.

Google once again are increasing the % of the search landscape which PPC takes. They might say that it's a feature that's been available in SEO for a while but now that it's in the PPC listings it means that more and more organic listings are pushed below the fold. Expect CTRs to increase as well as the dollar in Google's pockets. Find out more in the link below.

Two bits to share with you today. Firstly an infographic to see how privacy differs between Google and Facebook. Secondly a post by Head of Display Jayne Pimentel who looks at AdChoices and the lack of information for the end user about what exactly it is.

Privacy is always going to be a heated debate. Despite the press going to town on it, there needs to be more reassurance for the end user. It exists, they just don't know about it.

Blekko Starts Serving Paid Search Ads
For those who don't know Blekko, they are one of the newer search engines to try and take market share off Google. Their angle is trusted websites take precedence which are reviewed by an editorial team much like Wikipedia. Well now they've just started serving ads.

This is an interesting one. They've had lots of investment and the investors want to see some return. Blekko have opted to use Google/Bing ads much like being on the adsense network. This seems to generate a set of ads which go against everything they are as a search engine. They've said themselves that there are still kinks in their ad delivery system so it's still too early to criticise. However, if this drives away their core users they have a big problem.
